Blackwall Hire is a leading supplier of event screening and exhibition display boards in London. The Blackwall panel system is highly versatile, stylish and very quick to install making it an ideal choice for events with tight set up deadlines. Here are some of the ways in which we have helped our clients create and enhance their space.
Westminster Cathedral asked us to screen off part of the cathedral so they could accommodate an installation to house the visiting relics of St Therese of Lisieux.
The brief: Allow access for the thousands of pilgrims per day to come in through the main entrance, pass the relics and exit without disturbing regular services that would continue at the altar end of the cathedral.
The solution We created baffled access points on either side for people attending services and a 6m wide hinged section that could be easily folded away when the relics were processed to the altar. The screening also doubled up as the medium for a poster display about the life of St Therese.
Photographic Exhibition of Historic House Gardens at Blenheim Palace
Blenheim asked us to design and build the display boards for their photographic exhibition in the Long Library – a highly ornate and historic setting.
The brief: Blenheim came to us seeking an effective solution to their problem of displaying a photographic exhibition in a historic setting, cost effectively. They had had no joy after looking at a range of options from very costly bespoke constructions in sympathy with the room to bare temporary metal fencing.
The solution: With Blackwall, we created for them a sharp, unimposing back-drop for the exhibition. The walling makes no attempt to match its surroundings but achieves a clean break, allowing the photography to exist in its own space without confusing or diluting the beauty of the library’s interior.
‘David Bowie’ exhibition at V&A: Dinner and Private View
The event space for the launch the ‘exhibition of the decade’ at V&A was defined by Blackwall. We screened off back of house areas in the main atrium of the museum and provided an elegant backdrop for a sumptuous dinner.
NHS Medical Conference
The client asked us to work at a Conference in the large ballroom in a Central London hotel.
The brief: To convert the ballroom which was set up theatre style into 15 private conference booths for a medical conference – all in the space of 20 minutes.
The solution: Each booth was built to a bespoke size and shape holding a meeting table and chairs for delegates and had a baffled access point for privacy. We met the deadline at the same time as the banqueting team rearranged chairs, brought in round tables and sorted out water, stationery and the like.
This is when the Blackwall comes into its own. Such an operation might not be possible without it.
The British Museum: dividing one event space into two
The production team at the British Museum needed a dividing wall to separate two concurrent events.
The brief: It need to go up in 10 minutes, stay up for 30 minutes and then come down in 10 minutes.
The solution: We achieved this comfortably without an army of crew. We know that on many event installations time and space are at an acute premium. The Blackwall system and our service are specifically designed to operate in this environment – solving problems and reducing stress for organisers.
